Missions

Voyages with impact

As part of our goal towards a brighter future for all, we will run yearly international missions. Each one dedicated to develop, test and promote new bio-inspired or preferably integral biomimicry innovations.

For each mission we will choose a different:

  • Environmental cause

  • Route along coastlines across the world

  • Set of collaborations with local communities

  • Line up of innovations

Throughout each voyage we will be raising public awareness around the mission's cause, how it’s affecting coastal communities and how biomimicry could be a potential aid for them. As part of each mission we will also be co-creating an art piece together with children from these communities, which will be showcased at the mission's final destination to give them another voice and raise awareness of their current situation.

Our first mission is Children of the tide.

CHILDREN OF THE TIDE

As our first mission we are undertaking an energy challenge to sail from Venice to Sydney without any fossil fuel. During the nine months we have estimated for the completion of this mission, we will not only be a

portable research station but are also stopping along the way to learn from and collaborate with the coastal communities that are most at risk of rising sea levels.

Our launch date is the 25th of March 2027 and we have many exciting things to work on and prepare until then.

We will use this journey to showcase new sustainable and regenerative technologies on board our vessel Chandeleur. We will be developing and prototyping both existing and new biomimicry solutions, to show what we can accomplish when we work more closely with nature. As we sail around the world, a federation of biomimicry communities will be created through a first common project, tackling rising sea levels.

Sea level rising

Due to melting glaciers as well as the volume of the ocean itself expanding as the water warms, our sea levels are rising with an accelerating pace. With this, there is an increasing threat to all coastlines worldwide (in the US alone almost 30% of the population lives along the coast). This isn't an issue of the future, it is happening right now.

Higher sea levels will result in more floods, shoreline erosion, deadly storms, salt water contamination of fresh water and much more. It will have a direct effect on coastal ecosystems, homes, jobs, infrastructure and much of life as we know it.

Our route options

We have mapped out four potential routes from Venice to Sydney. The route we eventually choose will depend on where we are able to establish meaningful connections and collaborations with NGOs, schools, and local communities along the way. Our goal is to engage with these groups to share knowledge, learn from their experiences, and co-create solutions inspired by nature.

As we finalize partnerships and logistics, more details will be shared, ensuring that each leg of the journey maximizes its impact.

More info to come.

Community collaborations

We will engage with many coastal communities facing the urgent challenge of rising sea levels. These communities are on the front lines of climate change, and we are committed to learning from their experiences and supporting their efforts to adapt.

By collaborating with local leaders, scientists, and residents, we aim to understand the unique vulnerabilities and resilience strategies they have developed over time.

Innovations

During our first Biomimicry World Tour, we will be bring our own biomimicry innovations on board, including solariSails, a first of its kind solution inspired by nature to harness solar and wind energy.

The purpose of integrating these innovations is to demonstrate how biomimicry can be applied in real-world, high-impact scenarios. By showcasing our technologies in action, we aim to inspire others to explore nature’s potential for creating solutions that are both environmentally friendly and efficient. As we sail across the globe, these innovations will not only power our journey but also serve as tangible examples of how nature-inspired design can drive positive change, reduce our ecological footprint, and shape a sustainable future.

External partners

We invite external innovators, researchers, and organizations to join this mission!

If you are developing cutting-edge bio-inspired or integral biomimicry innovations to create sustainable solutions, we would love to collaborate. Whether your work focuses on design, technology, or environmental restoration, your contributions could play a vital role in our shared journey to support coastal communities, tackle climate challenges, and promote a regenerative future. If you're passionate about making an impact and want to be part of this transformative journey, please reach out to us.
